Philip Keezer

The entrepreneur philip keezer has built an empire around a network of businesses he has created that offer phony contests, virtual concerts, and events, all for a fee. His shady business deals have made him the focus of an international investigation. In the wake of this, he has reportedly moved to another country to avoid arrest. His brother Matt, a cofounder of the site Pornhub and an early investor in Flighthub, is a businessman who has also been embroiled in legal trouble.

Keezer has performed with a wide variety of artists, including trumpeter Art Blakey, vibraphonist Joe Locke, bassist Tim Garland and vocalist Denise Donatelli, for whom he was nominated for a GRAMMY award in 2009 for her album Aurea. He has recorded albums influenced by Hawaiian, Okinawan and Afro-Peruvian folk traditions. His recent solo piano recording, Heart of the Piano (Motema Music, 2013), features original compositions and arrangements. He has taught master classes at the Brubeck Institute, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at New York University, the Guildhall School of Music in London, Indiana University and Michigan State University.

A montréalaise, he was named an Officer of the Ordre national du Québec in 2004 and an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2008. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Western Ontario, the University of Windsor and Concordia University. He has also served as an advisor to the Minister of Finance in Quebec, and as a board member of the Institut de recherche et de développement économiques du Canada.

The company Philip keezer founded is a software development and analytics firm that develops innovative solutions for digital commerce, advertising, and big data. Its patented technology enables it to improve revenue and reduce fraud, while helping companies do business safely. Its clients include a diverse array of Fortune 500 corporations, and its products are used by thousands of businesses worldwide.

In the midst of this success, he has created a network of fake websites that offer contests, virtual concerts and events, and bogus sports events that require a fee to enter. According to the investigative journalist Steve Baker, a leading expert on shady online businesses, this reseau has more than one million subscribers and is worth millions of dollars annually. He has also been a key figure in the Paradise Papers scandal, a trove of leaked documents involving offshore tax havens and illicit banking activities that was shared with journalists by a consortium of global news organizations. Baker says that he is concerned that philip keezer could be involved in the scandal. The entrepreneur’s lawyers have not yet commented on the matter. The names of all the companies he owns are confidential, but we have confirmed that he is the sole owner of Hyuna International.
